Are you a rideshare driver? Check out our new Driver Resource Center!
When Uber and Lyft came to Chicago more than a decade ago, driving rideshare was a way to make a solid living while working flexible hours.

But over time, these app-based corporations have increased fares for passengers while decreasing wages for drivers, making record profits for shareholders while the drivers doing the work struggle to make ends meet.
Chicago Gig Alliance, The People’s Lobby’s rideshare organizing campaign, in conjunction with the rest of the Illinois Drivers Alliance, recently succeeded in passing the App Drivers Union Bill. This first-of-its-kind legislation creates a special bargaining group for Uber and Lyft drivers in Illinois, finally granting them the agency they need to advocate for themselves and fight rampant corporate greed in the industry.
Workers are currently collecting signatures to win union recognition. Stay tuned for updates!
