The Chicago Gig Alliance, a Project of the People’s Lobby Education Institute, has partnered with the city of Chicago to offer educational resources to all Chicago Public Chauffeurs to improve access to information, legal rights, and economic protections. Public Chauffeurs include Taxi, Livery & Pedicab operators as well as Transportation Network Providers (TNP) – or Uber and Lyft drivers.
These workers are a vital part of Chicago’s transportation system and economy. Yet, they often work in isolation, face exploitative conditions, and lack basic protections afforded to other workers. These tools are intended to help workers understand their rights and access important legal and financial resources.
